Instagram and Social Media Growth Glossary
Plain-language definitions of the terms you meet while growing an Instagram account. Same language our support team uses every day.
Short, honest definitions of the words you will meet while growing on Instagram. No jargon, no fine print. When a term points to a service, the link goes straight to the live page and its real prices.
Buying and Delivery
- SMM panel
- An online service that delivers social growth in one place: followers, likes, views and more. You place an order with a public link, and the service handles delivery.
- drip-feed
- Slow delivery spread over days instead of everything at once. Growth looks natural, closer to how real accounts grow.
- refill
- Free replacement of followers that drop off. Non-drop packs carry this protection inside the pack window.
- retention
- How many of the delivered followers stay on your account after delivery. Higher retention means the growth lasts.
- non-drop pack
- A pack that covers drops. If followers leave inside the pack window, they are replaced free.
- delivery time
- How long an order takes to land. Orders start within 0 to 6 hours of confirmation, and larger packs can take longer to complete.
- watch hours
- The total time people spend watching your videos. YouTube counts them when it reviews a channel for monetization.
- free trial
- A free sample of a service so you can judge the quality before you pay. No payment needed.
Metrics
- engagement rate
- The share of people who see a post and interact with it. Likes, comments, saves and shares all count.
- reach
- How many unique accounts see your content.
- impressions
- How many times your content is shown, even when the same person sees it more than once.
- follower count
- The number of accounts following your profile. It is the first number most people check, and it shapes credibility.
- likes
- Quick votes on a post. They signal that the content landed well.
- views
- How many times a post or reel is watched.
- comments
- Written replies on a post. They are the strongest sign of an active audience.
- conversion
- When a viewer takes the action you want: follow, buy, click or send a message.
Content
- CTA
- A call to action. One clear instruction that tells a viewer what to do next.
- hashtag
- A word or phrase with a hash in front. It groups posts under one topic so new people can find them.
- reels
- Short vertical videos built to reach people beyond your followers.
- stories
- Posts that disappear after 24 hours. They keep your audience close without adding clutter.
- live
- Real-time video broadcast to your followers. The most direct way to talk to an audience at once.
- UGC
- User-generated content. Photos, videos and reviews made by customers or followers, not by the brand.
Accounts and Growth
- organic growth
- Attention earned without paid promotion. Content people choose to follow and share.
- algorithm
- The system that decides which posts to show to which people. It rewards content people watch and engage with.
- shadowban
- When a platform quietly limits how many people see your content. It usually follows spam-like behaviour, not steady growth.
- influencer
- An account with a following that trusts its opinion. Brands work with them to reach new people.
- monetization
- Making money from your audience. Through brand deals, products, subscriptions or platform payouts.
- DM
- A direct message. A private chat on Instagram where real conversations and sales often start.
- niche
- The specific topic an account is known for. A clear niche grows faster because the audience is easy to identify.
